The Porsche Speedster
Conceived at the behest of the Porsche US importer Max Hoffman at the time, the Porsche Speedster was actually an attempt by Porsche to provide the lucrative California market with a no-frills stripped-out roadster which could be sold for under $3000. The model instantly was a commercial success with 3676 examples sold over a 4 year period. Today the Speedster is one of the highlights of the Porsche back catalogue and a highly collectable model with commensurate values.

Chassis 84129
One of just 1,171 Speedsters made in 1957 - this car is an early 356 A T2 example with all the refinements of the final A model made between 1957 and 1959 - arguably the prettiest shape for a speedster.

Originally delivered to the USA in Aquamarine Blue and fitted with the 60 BHP engine and 4 speed manual gearbox, the car was sourced by the current owner after an exhaustive search to find a solid rust free complete example, as a suitable candidate for a concours restoration. A true "survivor", the car is not to be confused with largely incomplete examples which have been restored from the remains of a rusty chassis and very little else! Unusually, the car comes with it's original matching numbers engine on a pallet for restoration or preservation, whilst a rebuilt reconditioned unit of the correct type is fitted for use, preserving the valuable original motor.

As soon as the current owner acquired this Speedster, it was treated to a lengthy and thorough restoration by marque experts, substantiated by over 90 pages of billing documentation which accompany the car. It was decided to restore the Speedster in black with tobacco leather with stunning results.

The car has a certificate of authenticity and due to it's age has the advantage of being eligible for the most prestigious events - including the Mille Miglia.

The car wants for nothing other than a new custodian to enjoy ownership of one the most desirable classic Porsche ever made.
